Establish a permitted purpose
Before selecting a voice tool, define why a call is needed, who may be contacted and what permission or lawful basis applies. Do not use scraped numbers or assume that an earlier interaction authorises automated marketing calls. Requirements differ by location and provider.
Make the interaction transparent
Identify the organisation and disclose automation when required or appropriate. Keep the script accurate, brief and non-coercive; offer a straightforward way to stop or reach a person. Do not clone a real person's voice or imply that an AI system is a human employee.
Test, monitor and escalate
Minimise stored recordings and personal data, restrict access and set an approved retention plan. Test accents, interruptions and failure cases, and route sensitive or uncertain requests to a trained person. Review applicable laws, consent rules and platform policies with qualified advisers before launch.
